D’Brickashaw Ferguson was just as tight-lipped as his driver, Braylon Edwards.
The left tackle -- who was a passenger, along with teammate Vernon Gholston, in Edwards’ car Tuesday morning when the wide receiver was pulled over on a DWI charge -- wouldn’t elaborate on the situation, refusing to shed light on his thought process before and after their 5 a.m. encounter with police.
Edwards was reportedly pulled over on Manhattan’s West side for having overly-dark tinted windows on his car. Officers detected alcohol on the wide receiver’s breath, and gave him a Breathalyzer test.
He allegedly blew a .16, twice the legal limit.
Ferguson and Gholston were not taken into police custody.
When asked why he allowed Edwards to drive impaired, Ferguson said: “Anything that happened that night, I really can’t get into right now. It’s a pending legal matter, but obviously we’re hoping to get this situation resolved and we’re optimistic about this week.”
When pressed about the importance of using good judgment, Ferguson, a Freeport native, replied: “It’s always important to rely on positive judgment, positive thinking. That’s something that goes without saying. But this is kind of the situation we’re in at this point and this is kind of what we have to deal with.”
Gholston, an outside linebacker, was not available to the media.
