What will they do with Santonio Holmes, whom many players think quit on the team in Sunday's season-ending loss?

General manager Mike Tannenbaum and Rex Ryan said they expect Holmes to be back, noting that he's under contract. It's a tough dynamic, though, because some players aren't thrilled with the way Holmes has been acting lately. He is set to earn $7 million guaranteed in 2012, so cutting him loose would be pricey.

Will Brian Schottenheimer be back for a seventh season?

Yes, according to Tannenbaum. That is, unless Schottenheimer gets the Jaguars' head-coaching job; he was given permission to interview for the position and should do so within the next week. Schottenheimer has two years left on his contract for a reported $3 million.

Is Mark Sanchez the answer at quarterback?

Tannenbaum and Ryan made it clear that Sanchez remains their guy, and Tannenbaum went as far as to say Sanchez will be the starting quarterback next season, although the Jets do have plans to look at the position. Tannenbaum said Sanchez's characteristics are "any GM's dream."

Any chance Plaxico Burress returns?

When asked, Tannenbaum didn't indicate he is leaning either way about bringing back Burress, who posted 612 yards and eight touchdowns on 45 receptions. "I enjoyed picking his brain," Tannenbaum said. "He's a really interesting guy, he was a really good teammate, I was glad he was on the team. Free agency is a couple of months away.''

Will there be any changes on the coaching staff?

Probably, but one person the Jets want to retain is assistant head coach and offensive line coach Bill Callahan. His contract is up. "We'll be talking to Bill over the next few days, and he's done a great job since he's been here from Nebraska," Tannenbaum said. "I thought that was one of the better moves when we got him here with coach [Eric] Mangini. So we hope to have him back."
