It seems the feelings are mutual.
Tom Gamble -- the top pick among the Jets' GM candidates -- has canceled his second interview with the Jaguars in order "to focus on the Jets," according to ESPN's NFL insider Adam Schefter.
Dave Caldwell, the Falcons director of player personnel, met with the Jets Friday. But, according to Schefter, the Jags are leaning toward Caldwell.
Tom Heckert also was being considered for the Jets' vacant GM job. He was scheduled to meet with owner Woody Johnson on Monday, but a source told Newsday the recently-fired Browns GM cancelled Friday evening.
No matter. Gamble is Johnson's top target.
He's a well-respected personnel director and, not to mention, the 49ers' drafts have been stellar in recent years.
