Grading the Jets in Week 3

This one falls squarely on the shoulders of this unit, which had missed tackles, penalties, you name it. For as good as Antonio Cromartie has looked at times during the first two weeks, he was atrocious, picking up four penalties all by himself -- two pass interferences and two holding. Darren McFadden ran wild, racking up 171 of Oakland's 234 yards rushing yards and scoring a pair of touchdowns.
SPECIAL TEAMS
Mike Westhoff's troops were inconsistent and the gaffe/muffed kickoff by Cromartie was critical. It changed the complexion of the game and helped put the Jets in a 14-point hole. Jeremy Kerley had a nifty 55-yard punt return, but also let one bounce down inside the 15-yard line rather than fielding it, leading to an angry Westhoff. Kerly averaged 20 yards per return.
COACHING
C Getting Plaxico Burress involved right away was a good thing after what happened last week, with him not catching a pass. The designed roll outs, bootleg and misdirection plays were also a solid part of the game plan. But they never found a way to plug their gaping run defense.
