"Terminator'' stars

Rex Ryan couldn't help but boast about one of the newest Jets on the first day of training camp. But he wasn't gloating about the likes of Antonio Cromartie, Jason Taylor or LaDainian Tomlinson.

Fifth-round pick John Conner, a fullback who's nicknamed "The Terminator," had a few hard-hitting plays - including laying the wood on linebacker Kenwin Cummings - that caught Ryan's attention.

"Our young fullback we drafted from Kentucky, I think we all see why he has a short neck," Ryan said. "I mean, he was pounding people. He took the breath out of three guys today, three linebackers. So that was good to see. I'm always happy when we're right on a draft pick, and you can see this early that this kid is the thumper that we think he is."

Cro hops to the left

With Darrelle Revis holding out, the Jets have decided to move Cromartie over to Revis' left cornerback spot. It's all about flexibility and interchangeability.

"We put him at left corner today," Ryan said. "We're going to work him through camp as a left corner until Revis gets here. That way we can switch them and do all that. He's always been a right corner, so we're trying to get him to play lefthanded, if you will. He looks tremendous."
