Tom Heckert is out of the running for the Jets' GM job.

A source told Newsday the recently-fired Browns GM was scheduled to meet with owner Woody Johnson on Monday, but cancelled his interview Friday evening.

Though many assumed the inheritance of head coach Rex Ryan would be a deterrent for most candidates, the source said Heckert wasn't turned off by  the existing head coach. Instead, he had big concerns about the Jets' bloated salary cap.

At $142 million, they have the most money committed toward the 2013 cap, according to ESPN.
