Apparently, no amount of Rex Ryan coaxing was going to be enough.

Nick Mangold's sister, Holley, confirmed to USA TODAY that her older brother would not be traveling to London to see her compete for gold.

"He's not going to come," said Mangold's sister, a U.S. weightlifter.

"It's not that he doesn't want to go, (but) football is my brother's life. You wouldn't see me missing training or a big meet to watch one of his games. I know it's different because it's the Olympics. But (camp is) a big part of their season, especially with a new quarterback in town."

Ryan had tried to convince Mangold that this is a "once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," but the Jets center felt he needed to be in Cortland with his teammates.

“God bless Rex cause he did offer it to me, but I don’t think I can leave my guys in the middle of training camp,” Mangold said on NFL Network two weeks ago. “But we’ll figure out a way to watch it, and I’m real excited and real proud for her. Somehow, some way, I’ll watch it. But I don’t know if I can do the jump over the pond in the middle of training camp.

Holley, of course, understood his decision.

"It doesn't feel like he supports me any less," she Nick's sister, who will be featured on HBO's Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel on June 19.

"He wants to be there. But my brother has always had a huge sense of team and leadership, and he would feel like he was letting the team down if he went to London, no matter what his coach says."
