Jets place Isaiah Crowell on injured reserve

Isaiah Crowell’s season is over.
The Jets placed their leading rusher on injured reserve Friday with a toe/foot issue. Crowell was in a walking boot during the week and said the pain was “excruciating” after he aggravated the injury in Sunday’s win over Buffalo.
Crowell, who will miss a game for the first time in his five-year career when the Jets face the Texans on Saturday, rushed for 685 yards and six touchdowns in his first season with the team. He set a franchise record with 219 rushing yards against Denver on Oct. 7.
The Jets lost starting running back Bilal Powell for the season with a neck injury Oct. 21. Second-year player Elijah McGuire and rookie Trenton Cannon now are expected to be the featured backs. McGuire was hobbled this week with an ankle injury but hopes to play Saturday. Running back DeAngelo Henderson was promoted from the practice squad to replace Crowell.
The Jets signed Crowell to a three-year, $12-million deal last offseason with $6 million guaranteed. The former Brown had played in 77 consecutive games and rushed for 3,803 yards and 27 touchdowns.
