Jason Taylor visiting with the Jets
Here is some of Greg Logan's story on Taylor and the Jets:
Dolphins unrestricted free agent pass rusher Jason Taylor is "Dancing with the Jets" today, according to a report from ESPN.com that Newsday has confirmed with an NFL source. Taylor long has been a target of abuse for Jets fans, and he has reciprocated by voicing his mutual disdain for them.
But the Jets need pass-rush help, and when placekicker Jay Feely signed with the Cardinals, it opened up a salary slot believed to be worth at least $1.25 million. So, the Jets now are pursuing Taylor for the right outside linebacker spot in their base 3-4 defense.
Taylor is expected to tour the Jets' new stadium today as part of the wooing process with general manager Mike Tannenbaum and coach Rex Ryan. The former "Dancing With the Stars" contestant turns 36 on Sept. 1, but he had seven sacks last season, which would have been one behind Jets sacks leader Calvin Pace. Bryan Thomas, who plays Taylor's ROLB spot for the Jets, managed only two sacks last season.
