Usually it’s the Patriots who stockpile tight ends. But this time, the Jets were able to add a former Patriot to their arsenal Friday – Zach Sudfeld.

The 6-7 tight end was claimed off waivers by the Jets a day after his release from New England. In a corresponding move, the Jets waived linebacker Scott Solomon.

And as luck would have it, the Jets and Pats play in two weeks – on Oct. 20 at MetLife Stadium.

Sudfeld was expected to be “Baby Gronk” in Foxborough, a full-time fill-in for veteran tight ends Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez. But he reportedly struggled to catch on in the Patriots’ system and also suffered a hamstring injury as well.

The Jets, meanwhile, are clearly enamored with height at the moment. They signed 6-5 wideout David Nelson this week.
