HELLO AGAIN

Robert Saleh and Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel are close friends. They sat across from each other as interns with the Texans in 2006 and later worked together under Kyle Shanahan in San Francisco.

Jets offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur worked even closer with McDaniel. They were on offensive staffs together in Cleveland, Atlanta and San Francisco. LaFleur called McDaniel “one of my best buddies.”

LaFleur watches Dolphins’ games every week – as well as San Francisco and Green Bay, where his brother Matt LaFleur is the head coach. Mike LaFleur sees the similarities in his offense and what the Dolphins do, but McDaniel has tailored it to his personnel.

“I’ve seen every one of their snaps,” LaFleur said. “Doing a lot of impressive stuff. The talent is very clear. It’s I think the fastest team I’ve ever seen on offense. It’s incredible the amount of space they get from the speed and he’s using it.”

Running back Raheem Mostert and receivers Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle are among the fastest players in the league. Saleh said McDaniel is using that to his advantage.

“They’ve got world class speed,” Saleh said, “so a lot of the routes they’re running are like make believe because an O-line is not supposed to be able to protect because they’re so far down field. He’s doing a really good job creating a lot of stress and using the entire field to put stress on the defense.”

TACKLE MACHINE

Jets linebacker C.J. Mosley ranks sixth in tackles (41) and is one of just two players with at least 11 tackles in three games this season. Seattle’s Jordyn Brooks is the other.
