C.J. Mosley has a strong message to the rest of the NFL: These aren’t the same old Jets.

The former Pro Bowl linebacker said the defense is explosive and that teams had better not sleep on the Jets this season.

"If people come with that same mentality, they’re going to get their [butt] blown out," Mosley said after playing his first game in nearly two seasons. "That’s 100%, no matter if we’re at MetLife or anywhere else.

"If they think there’s anything old about this Jets team, it’s not going to end well for them. That’s the mindset we’re going to bring to work every day."

Mosley said something similar when he first signed with the Jets in 2019. But the Jets now are playing for the defensive-driven Robert Saleh, have added playmakers on D and got one back in Mosley.

He opted out last season because of concerns over COVID-19 after playing just two games in 2019. Mosley loved being back on the field and everything that went along with it.

"It was a cool experience, just starting yesterday, driving to the team hotel, something I haven’t done in a long time," Mosley said. "Going to the meetings at night, waking up in the morning and getting back to the routine I’m used to. Hitting a little traffic getting to the stadium.

"I was embracing everything today. It was the same for me once we got on the field that first play; it was like I was back at home."

Mims makes plays

Second-year receiver Denzel Mims, whose lack of usage in camp has been striking, was the Jets’ leading receiver. It could earn him more reps, but six receivers were used before Mims lined up on the outside — and the Jets were without standout rookie Elijah Moore and Braxton Berrios.

Mims caught three passes for 51 yards, all in the second half, playing with the second and third team. One catch was particularly impressive and set up the Jets’ lone touchdown.

He caught a short pass from backup quarterback Mike White on third-and-18 from the Giants’ 27 and turned it into a 20-yard gain. Mims carried several Giants with him on the way to the first down. The series ended with La’Mical Perine barreling in from the 4.

Two-minute drill

Moore was unable to play in his first NFL game because of a quadriceps injury that he suffered early in practice on Thursday. Robert Saleh said Moore is day-to-day and hopes he will be back next week .. . . Rookie kicker Chris Naggar made a 30-yard field goal but badly missed a 53-yard try low and wide left. Naggar and Matt Ammendola, who made an extra point, are vying for the kicking job . . . Before the game, a moment of silence was held for Jets passing game specialist Gregg Knapp, who passed away last month after a terrible accident.
