OFFENSE

Geno Smith played a decent game with Ryan Fitzpatrick (thumb) sidelined, throwing for 265 yards and two touchdowns. He also led the Jets in rushing with 34 yards, including a 29-yard scramble. But the Raiders rendered Chris Ivory (17 yards on 15 carries) ineffective and Eric Decker (six catches, 60 yards and a TD) was slowed by his sore knee. Brandon Marshall led all targets with 108 receiving yards, but he had no touchdowns and his longest catch was just 28 yards.
DEFENSE

Four touchdowns, 451 total yards and 118 rushing yards said it all. Todd Bowles' defense failed in every conceivable way and watched quarterback Derek Carr throw for 333 yards. Worst of all, the Jets forgot how to tackle. One example was Michael Crabtree's 36-yard score after breaking three of them. Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie estimated the unit missed more than 20 tackles. The Jets entered giving up a league-low 71.5 rushing yards per contest. But the absence of second-year safety Calvin Pryor (ankle sprain) was evident in their run defense.
SPECIAL TEAMS

Nick Folk accounted for the Jets' first points on field goals from 40 and 38 yards, but once again, there were no big runs in the return game. Jeremy Kerley averaged just 5 yards on his two returns and Zac Stacy returned a kickoff 21 yards. On the flip side, the Raiders' Taiwan Jones had a 41-yard kickoff return in the third quarter. Jets punter Ryan Quigley's net average was 44 yards on four attempts and he pinned the Raiders inside the 20 once.
COACHING

The Jets looked listless and some of their in-game decisions caused fans to scratch their heads. Case in point: punting with 3:30 to play and a 14-point deficit and calling a draw play on third-and-21 on their own 11. Despite the upgrades on offense, the coaching staff has yet to figure out how to adjust to a bad day from Chris Ivory.
