Jaiquawn Jarrett was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week, following his career day against the Steelers.
The Jets safety had two interceptions, 10 tackles and also recorded his first full sack and fumble recovery of his career in the Jets' 20-13 win over the Steelers.
It's the first time the fourth-year player has earned the honors.
The Brooklyn native, and former Temple teammate of Muhammad Wilkerson, started over first-rounder Calvin Pryor and played all 64 defensive snaps.
Pryor, who was late for a meeting last week, played only 13 special teams snaps.
"Jarrett had a hot hand. Why not leave him in?" Pryor said on Tuesday. "I wouldn't have taken him out."
Meanwhile, Rex Ryan had little doubt that Jarrett, 25, would be a shoo-in for the AFC honors.
"After the performance he had, I'm sure he'll probably be, if not, he should be, the (AFC's) Defensive Player of the Week," the Jets coach said of Jarrett, who will start against the Bills on Nov. 23. "It's hard for me to fathom somebody had a better game than he had."
