Jets WR Elijah Moore resigned to being pass-ona non grata

Elijah Moore was back playing with the Jets for the first time since his request to be sent outbound via a trade. But Moore was really more of a spectator than a player Sunday.
The Jets fell, 22-17, at MetLife Stadium, a loss Moore called “super-frustrating” because it was to the Patriots again. He had his personal frustrations again, too.
Moore played sparingly and had no receptions.
Zach Wilson targeted the second-year receiver once in his limited time, which was one more time than Moore had been targeted against Green Bay two weeks earlier.
He soon expressed his confusion on Twitter over the lack of footballs coming his way. Moore had been targeted only eight times in a three-game span at that point.
He then had a reported outburst toward offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur on Oct. 20 and was sent home to cool off. Then came the trade request.
The Jets didn’t take him along to their game at Denver. They had won three straight and were 4-2, so that didn’t present a good look for him.
“At the end of the day, this is like a legacy,” Moore said after this latest game in his first public comments about the situation.
The trade deadline is coming Tuesday. When asked if his trade request still stands, Moore said: “It doesn’t really matter. I’m here. And while I’m here, I want to do the best I can.”
But Moore, who showed so much promise as a second-round rookie, did express a regret: that this all got out and he became a distraction.
“What happened with me, I can’t change that,” he said. “I just only wish it didn’t cause so much of a distraction for my teammates.
“There are things behind the scenes that a lot of people don’t really know about, which is not all necessarily bad. Just a lot of conversations that need to stay in-house. I feel good about where I’m at. I attack every day with the same preparation that I did before.
“If I could take [being a distraction] out and keep everything else that’s going on, I wouldn’t change a thing. I still stand on it not being about me. It’s just the way this business is. At the end of the day, everyone is going to move in the best [direction] that they can for each individual. I’ve got a family to feed, too.”
Receiver Corey Davis was out against New England with a knee injury, but that didn’t help Moore get more snaps. Coach Robert Saleh denied it had to do with his actions, saying this was “just the chance to get Garrett [Wilson] on the field a little bit more. We’ll find more [opportunities] for [Moore] to get on the field.”
“It’s frustrating,” Moore said, “but it is what it is.”
Moore said he’s “cool” now with LaFleur and that the issues were “definitely a buildup.”
And his chemistry with Zach Wilson?
“I don’t get the ball,” Moore said. “I don’t know.”
