The Jets' upset of the Patriots on Sunday was watched by an average of 43.5 million viewers on CBS, the most on record for a divisional-round NFL playoff game.

The figure represented a 22-percent increase over the Jets' victory over the Chargers in the same round last January.

An average of 24.2 percent of U.S. homes tuned in, the highest for a Sunday divisional-round game since a Cowboys-Panthers game 14 years ago drew a 27.6 rating.

Boston led the 56 measured individual markets with 47.8 percent of homes watching and New York was 11th at 30.4, both extraordinary numbers for football in those baseball-centric cities.

In the game's final minutes, 28.4 percent of all American homes and 44 percent of those with a TV in use were watching the Jets secure their victory.
