In a surprising move, the Jets announced Tuesday that they've placed WR/KR  Clyde Gates  on season-ending injured-reserve, as well as running back Mike Goodson.

Gates, who suffered a left shoulder injury in their loss to the Steelers, was optimistic Monday that he could play against the Patriots. But at the time, he was still awaiting MRI results. Goodson, meanwhile, confirmed Monday morning that he was done for the season after tearing his MCL and ACL against Pittsburgh.

The Jets also announced the signings of former Browns KR/WR Josh Cribbs and WR Greg Salas to the active roster. The team also confirmed the addition of former Stony Brook running back Miguel Maysonet to the practice squad.

Cribbs, 30, is a three-time Pro Bowler and two-time All Pro. He is tied with Leon Washington for the most kickoff-return touchdowns (8) in NFL history and has 11 return TDs in his career. The Kent State product has averaged 25.9 yards on his 387 career kick returns and 11.0 yards on his 195 punt returns. Cribbs also set career highs in receiving in 2011 with the Browns with 41 catches, 518 yards and four receiving TDs.

Salas, a fourth-round pick of the St. Louis Rams out of Hawaii in 2011, is a 6’2”, 210-pounder who has played in seven NFL games with the Rams and Patriots. An Eagles practice squad member this season, Salas had 27 receptions for 264 yards his rookie season in St. Louis.

Maysonet, a native of Riverhead, ran for 1,964 yards and amassed 21 TDs on the ground his senior season at Stony Brook and was the runner-up for the Walter Payton Award as the outstanding player in the Football Championship Subdivision.
