Recently acquired right tackle Jeff Otah was put on the Jets' active PUP list after failing his physical.
Despite lingering questions about the health of Otah's left knee, the Jets traded a conditional seventh-round pick to Carolina in exchange for the former first-rounder.
Otah needs to pass his Jets physical within seven days or the trade with the Panthers will be off.
Although Otah cannot participate in practice, he still can attend meetings and rehab. Players on the active PUP list do not count against a team's roster and can be activated at any time.
After undergoing two knee surgeries, the 6-6, 340-pound Otah was placed on injured reserve last season after playing only four games the past two seasons.
