Anquan Boldin hurt the Jets with seven receptions for 110 yards. Is there any particular reason Darrelle Revis wasn't matched up with the wide receiver for the entire game?

"It was my decision to keep him on the defensive left side because I thought we could save some running for him going back and forth," Rex Ryan said. "I wanted to take that away from him because he only had the week of practice. I just wanted to put him on the left and we put 'Cro' [Antonio Cromartie] on the right. Hindsight being what it is, we probably should have matched him on Boldin.

"At the time, I felt it would be better for Darrelle that we just keep him in one spot where he wouldn't have to travel."

Speaking of Revis, what did he have to say about how the Jets' secondary couldn't stop the Ravens' passing attack?

"We thought our matchups were very good," he said. "We knew they had three good receivers: [Derrick] Mason, [T.J.] Houshmandzadeh and Boldin. They made plays out there and even Todd Heap made plays as well. Couldn't do anything about it at that point. They outexecuted [us] and they made plays."

What happened to the Jets' deep passing game?

It disappeared right before everyone's eyes. The Jets only threw deep a couple of times - once to Dustin Keller down the middle of the field near the end zone and another time to Jerricho Cotchery along the sideline. That was about it.

"We had one downfield early in the game to Dustin, but we had a shifting penalty, an illegal formation penalty [on Braylon Edwards]," Mark Sanchez said. "It seemed like anytime we had a good play, something happened and we hurt ourselves. Those are things we need to eliminate and we'll fix them."

What was the deal with Shonn Greene? He didn't carry the ball once in the second half after fumbling twice.

Ryan didn't provide an answer to this one. But in all likelihood, the Jets kept the second-year running back on the sideline because he put the ball on the ground. The staff grew weary of fumbles in the preseason and Greene, who had a fumbling problem as a rookie last season, has to take care of the ball if he's going to be featured, workhorse back.

How did Matt Slauson look in his first start at left guard?

"Everybody's going to point to the sack he gave up against Haloti [Ngata] in the one-on-one matchup he had there," Ryan said. "Clearly, Haloti beat him. Other than that, I thought Matt played well. I did. I thought he was physical. That's a good group you're going up against, Haloti Ngata, Kelly Gregg, Trevor Pryce, that's about as tough as it gets. I thought he held up well with the one exception."

As much as Ryan has pumped up his defense, saying it's better than anyone else's, the Ravens had to do a little bit of chirping afterward?

That would be an understatement. The Ravens were gloating as one might expect after the, um, playful war of words between Ryan and Ray Lewis leading up to the game. Linebacker Terrell Suggs couldn't wait to let Ryan have it.

"I did tell him the beast he created, he has to deal with," Suggs said. "I told him that on the field. He replied 'I'm here, too.' Like I said, much respect to him. I love the man with all my heart, but like I said, they've got to deal with us this year. It felt great to beat them. It wasn't a pretty win, but I'll take it. It was a great defensive [effort]. We didn't give up a touchdown and we picked up right where we left off in the preseason."

Was there a serious letdown feeling around the team afterward, given all the hype surrounding this team?

Let Sanchez explain: "It's frustrating and it's disappointing. There's so much talent in this locker room that there's really no excuse. We took care of the football pretty well, we won the turnover battle. But it was the penalties and lack of third-down conversions. There are a lot of things to be addressed, but we will do that. This is a long season. If any team can do it, I think this team can and bounce back next week against a good New England team. That's where our focus is."
