Slight scare for Big Jenks
Kris Jenkins was glad he didn't feel a sense of deja vu Thursday.
During one play, the nose tackle landed the same way he did when he tore his left ACL against the Bills in October. But Jenkins rolled over and sat there for a nanosecond on the grass before scraping himself up and keeping it moving.
It was a brief scare, but not something Jenkins kept in the back of his head.
"Not at all," he said. "You have to understand it's one of the things that you have to deal with in this game is pain. You are talking to somebody who gets acupuncture every week. I embrace getting stabbed. So sometimes things happen and it comes with the territory. But I can't go out there and do the job that I do if I worry about it."
Rock 'em, sock 'em robots
The Jets went through goal-line situational drills in the driving rain, leading to a spirited battle between the offense and defense. Bodies were colliding and pads were popping, all while the skies had opened up.
"That's 'Buddy Ball,' " linebacker Bart Scott said. "That's old-school 'Buddy Ball.' Playing in the mud, playing in the elements, hitting somebody, sliding in the mud and all that type of stuff. That's what football is all about, and who knows? That may come up within the season."
