Leonhard takes it slow
Jim Leonhard is recovering nicely from his broken leg.
The safety has been participating in individual and position drills during the first two days of training camp, but hasn't been cleared for full-team drills. He's playing the waiting game, even though he believes he's ready to go.
"Right now, it's kind of up to the trainers," Leonhard said Tuesday. "I feel more than comfortable doing everything, but it's kind of one of those camp casualties. The training staff hasn't seen me all offseason, so they are just taking it slow and making sure the conditioning is where it needs to be. Just the day to day, going three, four, five, six days in a row, I don't get any soreness right now. That's where it's at right now."
Now that's a crowd
The Jets had a rather large crowd for their first public practice of camp, easily dwarfing the 632 people the Giants drew a day earlier. The team announced a crowd of 2,775, and they got charged up at the first sighting of Plaxico Burress and Santonio Holmes together. There's another public practice slated for 2:15 p.m. Wednesday.
