The Jets released tight end Ryan Griffin on Monday, clearing roughly $3 million in salary cap space.

The move was anticipated, especially after the Jets signed tight ends C.J. Uzomah and Tyler Conklin as free agents.

The 32-year-old Griffin was entering the final season of a three-year extension he signed in 2019. His 2022 salary was not guaranteed.

Griffin finished his three-year Jets career with 70 catches for 677 yards and seven touchdowns in 42 games.

The Jets hosted Ohio State receivers Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson on Monday, according to ESPN. They could draft a wide receiver with the No. 10 pick, unless they use it in a trade for an already established one.

If DK Metcalf, A.J. Brown or Deebo Samuel become available, Jets general manager Joe Douglas has the assets to make a deal. Douglas said last week if the right trade presents itself, “we’re going to strike.”

The Jets were close to acquiring Tyreek Hill before he was traded to Miami, where he chose to sign a long-term extension.
