The Jets waived/injured Dedrick Epps Monday afternoon in order to clear a roster space for Berry. Epps suffered a hyperextended knee in Sunday's 34-0 loss to San Francisco after catching Tim Tebow's only pass of the afternoon.

The Jets have agreed to terms on a two-year deal with former Lions cornerback Aaron Berry, his agent Audie Attar confirmed with Newsday.

Berry will provide much-needed depth and skill to a Jets secondary that lost its star cornerback, Darrelle Revis, last week in Miami. Though Rex Ryan floated the idea of keeping Revis' roster spot open for the foreseeable future, the All-Pro corner is expected to be placed on season-ending injured reserve after ACL surgery in the coming weeks.

Berry, an undrafted free agent out of Pitt (coincindentally, Revis' alma mater), was cut by the Lions this offseason after two arrests in the span of a month.

In June, the 24-year-old was arrested for suspicion of DUI and subsequently entered the league's substance-abuse program. A few weeks later, however, he was accused of pointing a gun at three people in Harrisburg, Pa. The NFL suspended him for three games for violating the team's conduct policy.

Berry was reinstated last week.
