<~ No, not that one.

In addition to officially announcing the signing of safety Josh Bush on Saturday, the Jets also signed UDFAs Frederick Koloto, an OL from San Jose St., and QB Matt Smins, the son of Giants great Phil Simms.

General manager Mike Tannenbaum's affinity for stockpiling quarterbacks has been well-documented -- and not the Jets have five. (Yes, you heard right.)

Simms joins starter QB Mark Sanchez, backup Tim Tebow, third-stringer Greg McElroy and UDFA G.J. Kinne.

Head coach Rex Ryan spoke highly of Simms, who made stops in Louisville, El Camino College and Tennesse during his college career. Though the young QB threw a couple high balls on Day 2 of rookie mini-camp Friday, Ryan said Simms had "a nice ball."

"The thing that you're impressed with immediately is how he can throw the football," the coach said of Simms. "I mean, he definitely has a great arm. He can really spin it. The thing you don't see is obviously how he is against the rush and all that.

"I followed him. I knew he was at Tennessee. Kind of had ups-and-downs when he was there. But the kid has the arm talent. Obviously he's got the pedigree."

The team also waived C Kris O'Dowd.
