Free-agent tight end Kellen Davis has signed with the Jets.

The 6-7, 265-pound Davis was cut by the Giants at the end of training camp last year and signed with the Detroit Lions in October.

The 29-year-old was a fifth-round pick of the Bears in 2008. He played five seasons in Chicago, but he was most productive during in 2011 and 2012, totaling 37 receptions for 435 yards and seven touchdowns.

Davis was with the Browns briefly in 2013 before joining the eventual Super Bowl champion Seahawks later that season.

The Jets have four other tight ends on their roster: Jace Amaro, Jeff Cumberland, Zach Sudfeld and Chris Pantale. But the team needs a good blocking tight end.
