David Garrard's NFL career officially is over.

The Jets announced Thursday morning that they have signed former Seahawks wide receiver Ben Obomanu and placed Garrard on the reserve/retired list.

The 6-1, 204-pound Obomanu was taken in the seventh round in the 2006 draft by Seattle. He played six seasons for the Seahawks before he was released in March. He has 87 career catches for 1,209 yards and seven touchdowns in 66 games.

Obomanu, who played at Auburn, caught four passes for 58 yards in eight games last season.
