Cashing in more

The Jets are among the worst in touchdown percentage when starting a drive in an opponent's territory, and their red zone efficiency is also lacking. Both are areas of concern. "You've got to be able to score in the red zone," Rex Ryan said. "That's kind of been our Achilles' heel, with the penalties. It's the same thing we've been talking about. Obviously, it's much easier said than done, but we need to find a way to get that corrected. We've certainly had some opportunities in the red zone these last several weeks and we've just got to find a way to get it in there."

Keep on pushin'

Following a week in which many in the franchise as well as some fans joined in the penalty push-up craze, the Jets still were flagged nine times - two fewer than the previous week. "I guess when you have the owner doing push-ups and the entire organization, that focus ought to be better," Ryan said. "We'll see how it goes. I believe in this system. I think it will work."

Tough stretch

The Jets are about to embark on a mini two-game homestand, but it won't be an easy one given the circumstances. They'll welcome the Texans and Bengals to New Meadowlands Stadium in a five-day span, a scenario that's never easy for teams scheduled to play a Thursday night game on the heels of their normal Sunday matchup. At least they have the benefit of not having to travel for their Thanksgiving night contest with Cincinnati, otherwise it would really be a short week.
