After 110 picks, the Jets finally got to select another player in the NFL draft.
Thanks to the sixth-round pick they received via the Drew Stanton trade, the Jets took Josh Bush, a defensive back out of Wake Forest, with the 187th overall pick Saturday afternoon.
Bush, a third-team All-American in college last year, finished his senior season with 59 tackles and six interceptions.
In Bush, the Jets -- a team in desperate need of secondary depth -- get a player who has experience at both cornerback and safety.
On a conference call with reporters, Bush said this past season was the first time he played full-time at safety, but he feels "more natural" at safety.
"I'm pretty much thinking I'm a safety with a little bit of cornerback attributes which should help in the coverage aspect," said the 5-11, 208-pound Bush, who said he ran a 4.49 40 at his pro day.
Bush visited the Jets on April 17 and knew they were interested -- he just didn't know how much. The defensive back said there was another team interested in him, but added that the team requested anonymity.
There was no scouting information listed on NFL.com for Bush, who wasn't invited to the combine. But he didn't seem bothered by being under the radar.
"It’s football to me," he said. "I'm 23. I've been playing football for a long time. I'm ready to get there and get comfy around the guys and play football."
