Jets to interview Giants' Marc Ross and Scott Cohen for GM

The Jets are expected to interview two more candidates for their general manager job Monday. They will speak to Giants director of college scouting Marc Ross and in-house assistant GM Scott Cohen.
Tom Gamble, the 49ers' director of player personnel, remains a top candidate for the job. But late Sunday night, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the Jets are "eyeing another GM candidate.''
Schefter also reported that Gamble is scheduled to interview for the Chargers' GM job Tuesday.
The meeting between the Jets -- who fired general manager Mike Tannenbaum last Monday -- and Ross will satisfy the Rooney Rule, which states that NFL teams must interview minority candidates for head-coaching and senior football operation opportunities. But the Giants' director of college scouting is a hot candidate in his own right.
Ross, 39, is under consideration for four of the seven vacant GM jobs, according to USA Today. He already has interviewed with the Jaguars and Chargers and plans to meet with the Panthers Tuesday.
After becoming the youngest college scouting director in the NFL with the Eagles in 2000, Ross spent three years with the Bills before coming to the Giants in 2007. Since joining Jerry Reese's team, he's helped identify some of the league's best talent (Jason Pierre-Paul, Hakeem Nicks and David Wilson).
Cohen and senior personnel executive Terry Bradway have been handling football operations since Tannenbaum's firing. Cohen, a former director of pro personnel with the Eagles, became the Jets' assistant GM in 2008.
Packers director of football operations John Dorsey still is in the mix, but there's speculation that he'll be named the Chiefs' GM. Falcons director of player personnel Dave Caldwell met with the Jets on Friday, but the Jaguars are rumored to be heavily interested in him.
