Rex Ryan will get his next crack at the Giants in the second week of the preseason.
The NFL announced its preseason schedule Wednesday, and the annual Jets-Giants game will take place between Aug. 16-20 at MetLife Stadium. But before the Jets meet their local rivals, they'll officially kick off Tebowmania in Cincinnati.
The Jets will face the Bengals Aug. 10 or 11 in a game that surely will draw a lot of attention because it will be Tim Tebow's Jets debut. The Jets will face Cam Newton and the Panthers in prime time Aug. 26 in what should serve as a serious tuneup for the season opener because most teams treat the third preseason game as a dress rehearsal.
It will mark the fourth straight year the Jets, who finish the preseason Aug. 30 in Philadelphia, have played a nationally televised preseason game.
As for the defending Super Bowl champions, the Giants open their preseason in Jacksonville against the Jaguars, the franchise Tom Coughlin helped build. Coughlin coached the expansion Jaguars from 1995-2002, leading them to the 1996 AFC Championship Game in their second season.
After their Week 2 "road" game against the Jets, the Giants conclude their preseason at home against the Bears (Aug. 24) and Patriots (Aug. 29).
The NFL is expected to announce the regular-season schedule later this month. The only game that's been revealed is the league opener on Wednesday, Sept. 5, that matches the Giants and Cowboys at MetLife Stadium.
