Jets waive Jones and Smith
The Jets announced on Tuesday that they have waived LB Eddie Jones and S DeAngelo Smith.
Jones (6-3, 260) played in one game for the Jets, at New England (10/9/11), and spent time on both the Jets and Rams practice squads in 2011. He was brought back to the team as a reserve/future free agent in January.
Smith (5-11, 200) spent time with the Cowboys, Browns, Bears, and Lions, and saw action in seven games with Detroit during the 2009 season. A fifth-round pick by the Cowboys in the 2009 draft, Smith signed with the Jets as a free agent in April.
