Mangini Bowl

The reunion everyone pointed to when the schedule was released in April is finally here. The Jets travel to the shores of Lake Erie to square off against Eric Mangini's Browns.

Mangini earned the nickname "Mangenius" after guiding the Jets to a 10-6 record and a playoff berth in his first season, 2006. But he went 4-12 in 2007 and was fired after the Jets flamed out at the end of the 2008 season, losing four of five to finish 9-7 and miss the playoffs. Mangini is 8-16 with the Browns.

Two of a kind

Rex Ryan nearly has been bubbling over with excitement knowing he was going to play his twin's team. Rob Ryan is in his second season as the Browns' defensive coordinator. Rex planned on waiting until Wednesday to break out his best trash-talking material.

"It's going to be brutal, there is no doubt, it's going to be bad," Rex cracked Monday. "I'm sure we'll talk about each other's children, wives, whatever. So, yes, it's going to get ugly."

Edwards returns

Add Braylon Edwards' roller-coaster week to the bevy of subplots. Edwards, who caught a 74-yard touchdown pass Sunday at Detroit, wrote on Twitter that he was surprised by the "DUI" chants from his hometown fans.

He was in a Manhattan courtroom Tuesday for a hearing on DWI charges, and his case was postponed to Jan. 11. In four days, it's on to Cleveland, where he spent his first four-plus seasons. "I left there with a bitter taste in my mouth,'' he said, "and I'm going back for some satisfaction."
