The Jets need a new kicker -- and fast.
Nick Folk will miss four to six weeks because of a right quadriceps strain, coach Todd Bowles said Monday. According to a source, the team worked out kickers Billy Cundiff, Kyle Brindza, Garrett Hartley and Randy Bullock, but no signing was announced.
"We have to sign one,'' Bowles said, adding that there's a chance Folk will be placed on injured reserve.
"It's possible,'' he said. "We need some roster spots. We have a couple people hurt. So we have to work some things out.''
After the 28-23 win over the Jaguars on Sunday, Folk told reporters he felt "a little pop'' in his right quadriceps while going through his pregame routine. The Jets were forced to have punter Ryan Quigley kick, with Folk as the holder. Quigley didn't attempt a field goal but was 4-for-4 on PATs, one of which he banked in off an upright.
Secondary concerns
If you thought the secondary situation couldn't get worse, think again.
Antonio Cromartie (deep quadriceps bruise) is "50-50'' to play against the Bills on Thursday, Bowles said, and safeties Dion Bailey and Calvin Pryor (high ankle sprains) likely are out. Asked about the status of Pryor, who did not play the past two weeks, Bowles said he's "ways away.''
He also said there's "a chance'' that cornerback Dee Milliner will be added to the active roster. The Jets have until 4 p.m. Tuesdayto make a decision on the former first-rounder, who is on short-term injured reserve. If they don't add Milliner to the 53-man roster, he'll have to finish the season on IR.
Richardson case put off
Sheldon Richardson's court case, stemming from a July 14 arrest in Missouri, again has been delayed by a judge, according to his lawyers. The trial has been continued to Dec. 21. The defensive tackle was charged with five misdemeanors after he was arrested for driving his Bentley as fast as 143 mph with a 12-year-old relative in the car.
Jet streams
The Jets held a walkthrough at practice, but with a Thursday night game coming up, they were required to send out an injury report. G Willie Colon (knee), WRs Eric Decker (knee) and Brandon Marshall (toe/ankle), C Nick Mangold (neck), RB Bilal Powell (ankle) CB Buster Skrine (shoulder, hand) and FB Tommy Bohanon (shoulder) were listed as limited . . . G Jarvis Harrison was signed to the practice squad.
