Let's just say Mark Schlereth isn't a big Eric Decker fan.

Schlereth, a three-time Super Bowl champ and former Denver Bronco, believes Jets fans will be greatly disappointed by their new No. 1 receiver this season.

"Decker, in my mind, was your fourth option in Denver, and that's the talent I think he has,'' the former NFL player and current ESPN analyst said Wednesday on ESPN Radio. "I think he's a marginal No. 2 at best. The worst cover guy you have on your defense is assigned to Eric Decker every week.''

The Jets signed Decker to a five-year, $36.25-million free-agent deal that included $15 million guaranteed. In Schlereth's opinion, they wildly overpaid him.

"New York will go crazy watching him be covered one-on-one and incomplete passes, throwing his arms up, begging for flags,'' said Schlereth, who added that Decker isn't "even in the same stratosphere'' as Emmanuel Sanders, who signed a three-year, $15-million deal with the Broncos in March. "I'm telling you New York, get ready, begging for flags like, 'I was interfered with. That's the only reason I didn't catch that ball' every play and then tripping over his own feet. Going for a big play and all of a sudden the turf monster gets him, bam, sniper, down. It will drive you crazy.''

Schlereth also said Decker's recent stats -- 172 catches for 2,352 yards and 24 touchdowns the past two seasons -- were inflated because of Denver's offense. "What did he have, like 87, 90 catches last year?'' Schlereth said. "You'll see him in the 40-to-50 range, tops.''

What does Decker think? He was not spotted in the locker room during Thursday's media access period.
