A source confirmed Jets defensive coordinator Mike Pettine – whose contract is set to expire soon – has received permission to interview with the Buffalo Bills.

Buffalo introduced their new head coach, Doug Marrone, in a Monday press conference. Marrone, the former Syracuse coach, led the Orange to a 25-25 record in four seasons.

Last month, a source confirmed to Newsday that Pettine turned down a contract extension earlier in the season. But he declined to comment on those reports a few weeks ago.

The Jets defense finished 25th overall, second in passing defense and 26th against the run. In Pettine’s prior three seasons, the Jets finished 1st, 3rd and 5th overall.
