The Jets suffered a scare late in the fourth quarter Monday night when Muhammad Wilkerson was forced to leave the game against the Bears because of a knee injury.

Wilkerson, their star defensive player, collided with a teammate after sacking Chicago quarterback Jay Cutler for a 4-yard loss.

Wilkerson was down for several minutes, writhing in pain. He eventually was helped to his feet and limped slowly to the sideline. The medical staff spent several minutes checking out his right knee.

Wilkerson returned to the field for the final seconds of the game when the Bears took a knee on second and third down to end the game.

Rex Ryan didn't have any details about Wilkerson's injury during his postgame briefing. A Jets spokesman later said the coach doesn't believe Wilkerson's injury is serious.

Wilkerson -- who led the Jets with 10 1/2 sacks last season -- also teamed with Demario Davis for an 8-yard sack in the third quarter, marking the third time in Wilkerson's career that he has had more than one sack in a game.
