A week after his perceived Pro Bowl snub, Muhammad Wilkerson was named to The Associated Press' All-Pro second-team defense as a tackle, not an end. The third-year lineman was the only Jet selected by a national panel of 50 media members.

The Jets' defense utilizes both a 3-4 and 4-3, so Wilkerson lined up at end and tackle at various points throughout games. He had 101/2 sacks and 64 tackles and was named the Jets' MVP by his teammates.

Despite his impressive stats, he was selected as a first alternate to the 2014 Pro Bowl. The Pro Bowl ballot listed him as a defensive end, meaning he was judged alongside primary pass rushers such as Greg Hardy (Panthers), Mario Williams (Bills), Robert Quinn (Rams), Cameron Wake (Dolphins) and J.J. Watt (Texans).

Wilkerson echoed the sentiments of fans during a recent WFAN radio appearance, saying he "should be playing" in Hawaii. "I can't do nothing about it," he said. "But I'm confident in myself. I played good enough this season to be there."

Jets coach Rex Ryan touted Wilkerson as a Pro Bowler last year and made it clear that he deserved to be chosen this year. "I would be shocked if he isn't on that list," Ryan said Dec. 27. "If Mo doesn't make it, I don't get it. It [will be] personal; somebody doesn't like Mo Wilkerson for some reason."

Peyton Manning was the only unanimous choice for the All-Pro team. It was his seventh time as a first-teamer, tying Hall of Famer Otto Graham for the most by a quarterback.

Kiper likes Jets rookies. Defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson and fullback Tommy Bohanon were named to Mel Kiper Jr.'s All-Rookie team. Richardson, the star of John Idzik's inaugural draft class, also was ranked No. 2 on Kiper's Top 30 rookie list, behind Bills linebacker Kiko Alonso. Jets quarterback Geno Smith was ranked 24th.
