NFL Draft: Jets take CB Juston Burris, OT Brandon Shell

Skinny: The Jets got themselves a physical and aggressive cornerback who is versatile enough to play outside or inside. A three-year starter for the Wolfpack, Burris had 121 tackles (five for a loss), three interceptions and 18 passes defensed. Said Burris: “I’m going into training camp with the mind-set that wherever they want to put me, I’m ready to play.”

BRANDON SHELL

Offensive tackle, South Carolina

Skinny: He’s got height, size and Hall of Fame genes. The great-nephew of former Raiders offensive lineman and NFL head coach Art Shell also has the arm length (34 3⁄4 inches) and run-blocking ability to be a force on the line. His pass protection needs work, though. “It’s just an awesome feeling to be a part of this organization,” Shell said, adding that his great uncle helped him during this process.

The Australian is the first punter drafted by the Jets since 1993, when the organization selected Craig Hent rich in the eighth round. Edwards ranked sixth in the nation with a 44.4-yard average.

Projected to go in the third round, Peake can fly. He ran a 4.37 at his pro day, so he can get down the field with ease. Biggest knocks: he has small hands (9 1⁄4 inches), drops passes and has a history of knee injuries (a left ACL and torn left meniscus in back-to-back years).
