Matt Slauson saw nothing wrong with his block on Brian Cushing -- but the league didn't agree.

A spokesman confirmed Thursday that the NFL will fine the Jets left guard $10,000 for his peel back block Monday night, a manuever that cost the Houston linebacker his season. Cushing suffered a torn ACL on the play and will need to undergo surgery.

Peel back blocks -- which were deemed illegal in 2005 -- occur from behind and are made below the waist.

News of the fine was first reported by Fox's Jay Glazer.

"It's unfortunate, but it happens," Slauson said Wednesday, adding that he didn't anticipate being fined for what he -- and his coaches -- deemed a legal hit. "I wasn't trying to hurt him, obviously. I must have just caught him by surprise."
