Though he missed the first day of practice this week, Nick Folk (hip flexor) believes he'll be ready for Sunday's game in Minnesota.

"I feel optimistic about it," the Jets kicker said Wednesday. "I want to help these guys win games. I feel pretty poorly about what happened the other day, so I want to go out and hopefully get a win. Help the team get a win."

Nicknamed "Folk Hero" by Rex Ryan for his reliable right leg, Folk surprisingly missed two field goals during Monday night's 16-13 loss to the Dolphins.

He connected on two attempts from 40 and 45 yards, but missed another 45-yarder and an attempt from 48 yards out.

The second 45-yard try was wide left and came with the score tied at 13 and 5:42 left to play.

Folk said he felt tightness in his right hip as he practiced warm-up kicks on the sidelines in the second half.

"It just didn't feel right going into those two kicks at the end there," Folk said, referring to his 45-yard attempts.

The kicker, who was wide left on the 48-yarder with the Jets leading 10-0 in the second quarter, made one thing clear, though.

"No excuses," Folk said.
