PK Clint Stitser waived by Jets
That didn't take long. The Jets announced today that they have waived free-agent placekicker Clint Stitser, who was signed just over a month ago to compete with former Dallas kicker Nick Folk. Neither has shined during organized team activities workouts, but Folk at least has a decent track record.
It will be tough to replace the consistency of veteran Jay Feely, who was not re-signed in order to create the salary cap room to sign pass rusher Jason Taylor. No doubt, this is just the first stop on what figures to be a placekicking carousel prior to the season.
Thanks to Jets beat writer Rod Boone, the proud new father of twin girls, for the plug about covering camp today, but I wasn't able to make it for personal reasons. Arthur Staple subbed for the sub and will have the story in Friday's Newsday. My thanks to Arthur for the bailout.
