Jets defensive lineman Quinnen Williams was ticketed and received a March 25 court date when he will be arraigned on charges of criminal possession of a weapon, a Queens District Attorney spokesperson said Friday.

Williams was arrested Thursday at approximately 9:15 p.m. for allegedly carrying a gun while attempting to board a flight at LaGuardia Airport, according to a Port Authority Police Department spokesperson.

The 22-year-old Williams was arrested at the Delta check-in counter prior to going through the security checkpoint after he was found carrying a Glock 19 pistol, the spokesperson said. Williams, who is from Alabama, has an Alabama permit for the weapon but not a permit for New York.

The gun was not loaded and Williams was not carrying any ammunition, the spokesperson said. Unlawful possession of a firearm in New York is a felony offense.

Alex Spiro, Williams' attorney, said in a statement Friday that there was "allegedly a technical issue with the manner in which the lawfully owned firearm was stored — and we expect the matter to be resolved shortly." The statement was released through Williams' agent, Nicole Lynn.

Williams, who could not be reached for comment, also faces league discipline under the NFL's personal conduct policy.

“We have been in contact with Quinnen Williams and are fully aware of the situation,” a Jets spokesperson said in a statement Friday morning. “We will have no additional comment as this is a pending legal matter.”

Williams was the Jets’ first-round pick — and third overall — in last year’s draft. A star defensive lineman out of Alabama, the 6-3, 303-pound Williams had 28 tackles and 2.5 sacks as a rookie.

“Quinnen is one of the best young dudes I have ever been around,” Jets safety Jamal Adams tweeted Friday. “I know he couldn’t have meant any harm. I hope this all gets resolved soon!”
