A deal between the Jets and free-agent linebacker Jason Taylor is "close to done," according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

In a blog post, the newspaper said it is a two-year, $3.45- million deal - the maximum the Jets can pay him under the new rules for an uncapped NFL year - and that the only thing left to iron out is how much of the voluntary offseason program Taylor has to attend.

An associate of Taylor's was quoted in the blog as saying, "He was courted by some other teams but it looks like New York is the spot. He's waiting for them to make it more enticing for him.''

Taylor's agent, Gary Wichard, told the Sun-Sentinal there won't be any news until next week. The Jets said they have "no updates" on Taylor.

Taylor, who played for the Dolphins in 2009, met with the Jets Wednesday and Thursday as coach Rex Ryan tried to woo him across enemy lines. Taylor and his wife, Katina, were treated to a helicopter ride around the city.

Taylor had said he wanted to stay in Miami, but on Thursday, Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland said the team will wait until after the April 22-24 draft before deciding whether to make him an offer.
