Revis ready for duel with Indy, Peyton

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. - Peyton Manning had to stop himself after a few minutes, knowing the adjectives would keep coming if he continued.

"He is an excellent cover corner," the Indianapolis quarterback said of Darrelle Revis via conference call Tuesday morning. "He has all the skills that you want: big, strong and fast. You can probably go on and on with the adjectives to describe him and he is a difference maker."

The glowing assessments come easy when discussing the Jets cornerback.

"He's a guy that you have to be accurate [with] when you're throwing the ball," Manning continued. "A lot of guys have not thrown his way this year at all. You can see that on film, that they have not thrown in his direction a lot because when you do, you better be accurate with the football. It'll be a challenge."

But the real question is whether Manning plans to test the 25-year-old Revis.

Saturday night's rematch of the 2010 AFC title game will pit Revis on Colts wide receiver Reggie Wayne - the same matchup Jets coach Rex Ryan used last year. With Revis as his shadow, Wayne mustered just 55 yards on three catches. Unfortunately for the Jets, tight end Dallas Clark and wide receiver Austin Collie totaled 158 yards and three touchdowns in the Jets' 30-17 loss.

This time around, the injury-ravaged Colts won't have Clark or Collie, who are on injured reserve. But Revis believes these Colts are just as dangerous as last year's team - all because of Manning's ability to read defenses and his accuracy.

"I think any of them are tough because of where Peyton puts the ball at," Revis said of the Colts' receivers. "He's one of the best at putting balls where defensive backs can't get it. So I think that's the tough part. You might be on a guy with good coverage and Peyton finds a way to back-shoulder you on a fade route or puts the ball where it needs to go, where the receiver can only get it."
