FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — Darrelle Revis stood by his words, refusing to back down or soften their impact.

“I called him a slouch for a reason,” the Jets cornerback said yesterday, referring to New England wide receiver Randy Moss. “That game I felt like he played like a slouch.

That’s the simple point. I still have respect for him. He’s one of the best in the league.”

Revis gave that harsh assessment of Moss back in January and because of it, he now expects to have his hands full with the seven-time Pro Bowl wideout when the Jets face the Patriots Sunday.

Revis’ words struck a chord so deep in Moss that on Tuesday he said on ESPN: “I guess he’s entitled to say what he wants to say. Then again, we’re coming to the Meadowlands on Sunday, man. So you got sixty minutes of this slouch.”

And that’s just what the Jets cornerback wanted.

Revis, who saw little action patrolling the left side of the field during Monday night’s loss to Baltimore, told coach Rex Ryan he wants to tail Moss all game long.

“Rex is smart and he was just looking out for my best interest not putting everything on my plate the first game,” Revis said.

“Easing my way back in and just get used to the game again. This week, I’m getting back into my regular routine and following them everywhere they go.”

Last season, Revis held Moss to just nine catches for 58 yards and one touchdown in two games. As a result, Moss said he dedicated his offseason to staying off Revis Island.

When pressed for a reaction to Moss’ “slouch” comment, Revis said: “He probably said it with a laugh, but it’s been in his mind for the whole offseason. And he’s been working hard for this day to come. So I’m expecting him to play his A-plus game. I don’t expect anything less when I play against Randy.”

Revis added: “I guess that’s what he’s been worrying about all offseason, is staying off Revis Island. I’m sure he's going to come well-prepared on Sunday, and I’m sure he’s going to have some tricks up his sleeve.”
