Rex: My future isn't tied to Sanchez

Public perception is that Rex Ryan is the ultimately loyalist; a man tethered to his starting quarterback, Mark Sanchez.
Some have criticized Ryan for his seemingly blind faith in a player who has quarterbacked the Jets to only 12 wins in their past 28 games and, more importantly, played so poorly last week that Ryan had no other option but to bench him against the Cardinals.
But regardless of Sanchez’s performance here on out – starting with Sunday’s game in Jacksonville – Ryan said he doesn’t believe his job security is affected by Sanchez’s success or failure.
Ryan said his decision to select Sanchez as the starting quarterback this week against the Jaguars is rooted strictly in beating the next opponent – not in the coach’s long-term future.
“Obviously we need to win and this is a big decision and, in determining wins and losses is the play of your quarterback a lot of times,” Ryan said. “But, no, I don’t feel like my future is tied in with how we do things.
“The one thing that can effect job security is winning,” added the coach, who has yet to decide who his No. 2 quarterback will be. “If we win, I think that decision is a big one in the fact that, there’s two positions in this league where you can lose games fastest: quarterback and cornerback.”
