Jets head coach Rex Ryan just announced that Darrelle Revis will not play against Miami Sunday. The cornerback will not travel with the team, either.
An MRI Monday revealed Revis had a strained left hamstring and doctors informed him he could miss one to two weeks due to injury.
Ryan said during his Wednesday press conference that the cornerback “is not to where he can play” and though Revis is “itching to get back,” it's “too risky a proposition to put him out there.”
Revis exited Sunday’s game against New England after trying to make up ground on wide receiver Randy Moss’ 34-yard touchdown catch with a minute left to go until halftime. The Jets’ training staff worked on the cornerback’s tight hamstring on the sideline after the Patriots’ score before Revis headed into the locker before the first half ended. He did not return.
Revis and center Nick Mangold did not participate in practice. LB Jason Taylor (elbow) was limited. Calvin Pace (foot) also is out for the Miami game.
