Rex Ryan can earn spot in Jets' record book

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. - Rex Ryan has the chance to do something no other coach has done in franchise history.
The Jets have never made the postseason three straight years in a row, a feat they have a good chance of achieving if they can win their final two games. Including their current streak, the Jets have advanced to the playoffs in consecutive seasons just five times.
"That would be huge," Ryan said Thursday. "There's no question that would be a great accomplishment. I know how hard it is to get into the playoffs and I don't know how much leading I've done to get us there. But this organization, the coaches I have that coach with me, I think have done a great job of putting us in that position.
"Now, we've still got a lot of work to do to get there. But it would be a great accomplishment, there's no doubt.
Pace fined
Calvin Pace was fined $15,000 for his helmet-to-helmet hit on Michael Vick in Sunday's loss. The linebacker was flagged for a late hit on the Eagles quarterback during Vick's 26-yard touchdown toss to tight end Brent Celek in the first quarter.
Pace told reporters he expects to appeal the fine, and Ryan wasn't about to get into a debate of whether he feels the fine is justified.
"I'm not the expert there," Ryan said. "I know the commissioner has got a tough job and he always does what's best in the interest of the league."
Extra points
LB David Harris was excused from practice for a non-injury related issue and is expected to play Saturday. WR Santonio Holmes (hip), DE Mike DeVito (knee), CB Marquice Cole (knee) and RB Joe McKnight (shoulder/elbow) were limited in practice. McKnight remains a gametime decision and Cole is probably out. WR Jeremy Kerley (illness) returned to practice. The Jets will hold their annual coat drive to benefit Jersey Cares on Saturday and fans are encouraged to bring new or gently used coats to be collected at all gates.
