FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — His teams have changed over time, but one thing has remained constant: Ryan Fitzpatrick can’t seem to outsmart Rex Ryan.

The Jets quarterback is 1-8 against Ryan-coached defenses, including two losses to his former team last year.

“I just didn’t play as well as I wanted to in either game. I know I’ve got to do better,” said Fitzpatrick, who had three fourth-quarter interceptions in a Week 17 loss to Buffalo that knocked his team out of playoff contention.

Statistically, Ryan has the quarterback’s number. So is that a sign that Fitzpatrick doesn’t feel as confident going against his defenses? “I hope a lot of people have less confidence through the years,” Ryan told Bills reporters on Tuesday. “That’s probably smart.”

Jenkins out

Fans will have to wait at least another week to see Jordan Jenkins in action. The rookie outside linebacker “probably” won’t play, said coach Todd Bowles, because of a lingering calf injury. Look for Bayville’s Mike Catapano to start in his place.

Wilkerson’s toe is sore

Muhammad Wilkerson was again limited with a toe injury, but it’s not related to the turf toe that sidelined him in 2014. “He had a nail that just was removed . . . and it was a little sore,” Bowles said. Wilkerson is expected to play Thursday.

Rex retort

Asked for a restaurant recommendation in Buffalo, wisecracking Ryan replied: “Why don’t you guys go to that place that I went to? Dave & Buster’s?” The Jets made headlines in 2013 after Ryan took the entire team to the arcade-themed chain the night before they lost 37-17 to the Bills on the road.

Jet streams

To avoid confusion for those with color-blindness, the NFL announced it consulted with experts to ensure the “Color Rush” uniforms “will be clearly distinguishable for all fans.” The Jets will wear mostly white uniforms and white faskmasks Thursday night against the Bills, who will be in all red . . . Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) did not practice for a second day. Neither did Jets backup QB Bryce Petty (shoulder) . . . TE Braedon Bowman was waived to make room for Sheldon Richardson (suspension) on the 53-man roster.
