Rex Ryan hopes Sunday's painful loss to the Packers will be the tipping point of the Jets' season.

"I've seen [with] some teams that when you have a game like this, it can turn your season on a positive note. That is certainly the way I hope we respond to this game," Ryan said on Monday after a 31-24 loss at Lambeau Field.

The Jets jumped on the Packers early, taking a 21-3 lead in the second quarter, but the lead slipped away and so did the "W."

Ryan's players tried to focus on the positives. "I think we're too early in the season to start harping on the bad," right guard Willie Colon said. "We have a lot of dogfights ahead of us and it's important for us to stay together. You have to move on. Obviously, it's not [the outcome] we want, but that's life."

Quarterback Geno Smith highlighted the team's fast start but said the ultimate takeaway was simple. "We lost. We didn't do enough," he said. "We started off fast and the fire kind of died toward the end of it."

Ryan stressed that his players have to do a better job of playing fundamentally sound football.

"It starts with us," he said. "We have to figure out why it is not getting done to the way we expected it to, especially when your players are committed the way ours are. If you're worth a darn as a coach, you look at yourself first, and that is certainly what we're doing." Jet streams

It's unclear how serious wide receiver Eric Decker's injury is. He left in the third quarter because of right hamstring tightness. "We don't know right now," Ryan said. "Hopefully, he'll be ready to roll on Monday . . . Ryan hopes to get Dee Milliner practicing this week after he pulled himself out of his season debut Sunday. Milliner, who suffered a high ankle sprain Aug. 10, said his ankle "tightened up on me a little bit" toward the end of the game and asked Antonio Allen to sub for him "because I couldn't move like I wanted to."
